Online Therapy

PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY ONLINE THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS AGES 18+

Therapy designed to meet you where you’re at

It’s hard to add ‘one more thing’ to your already busy life, I get it! Meeting online for therapy allows you to bypass traffic, fit your session into your day when it’s convenient, and gives you mobility to meet wherever you’re most comfortable. I often meet with folks who are working from home offices, sitting in their cars or taking a walk outside, or just sitting on the couch in their living rooms.

How online therapy works

Online therapy sessions take place via a HIPAA-secure platform, similar to Zoom or Skype. Just before we meet, you’ll receive a secure link by text and email that is valid only for our upcoming session. At the scheduled time, you can simply click the link to enter our virtual therapy room, and I’ll meet you there. If you want, you can even blur your background or use an alternative background for additional privacy.

Requirements for online therapy

To have a successful online session, all you need is some privacy, a device with access to a camera and microphone (smart phones, laptops, and tablets work great), and a strong wifi connection. If you’re able to stream Netflix or similar services without a problem, then you should be good to go for online therapy. I suggest using headphones if possible to help reduce audio interference and also to create a more connected experience.

Effectiveness of online therapy

I’ve been doing online therapy for years, even before it was ‘normal’ to do everything online. The reason I started offering therapy online was because there is a large body of research that shows it works! In fact, therapy outcomes have been found to be the same for in person and online sessions. I’ve personally found that clients who are online tend to feel more comfortable, have an easier time connecting, and are more likely to keep their appointments and be on time.

FAQS

Common questions about online therapy

  • Due to licensing restrictions, you need to be physically located in CO, CA, PA, or FL. I’m unable to see you if you’re living in another state, even if it’s temporary.

  • Yes! I often see college students who are attending school in a state I’m licensed in, even if their home is in another state.

  • Sure, I can see you online wherever you can find privacy and feel comfortable. I’ve met online with folks who are in their cars, at the park, in a closet at their home…wherever it works for you.

  • Your online therapy session will feel better if you have complete privacy and no distractions, and it also helps to turn off your emails, texts, and other notifications. Using earphones helps reduce audio interference and improves our connection, and of course having a strong wifi signal is important.
